Looking for Top Liberal Arts Colleges in Texas

I've set my eyes on pursuing liberal arts after high school and currently on the lookout for colleges in Texas. Can someone share their knowledge about the best liberal arts colleges here in Texas? If you've personally experienced studying in one, that would be extra helpful!

Texas is home to several excellent liberal arts colleges. Let's talk about four that pop to mind:

1. Austin College: Located in Sherman, this college offers a rigorous academic curriculum in Arts and Sciences where students can choose from 55 areas of study. They also provide opportunities for research, internships, and study abroad experiences.

2. Southwestern University: This Georgetown-based university is Texas’s oldest institution of higher education. They follow a unique curriculum based on Paideia philosophy, which encourages students to make connections across different disciplines.

3. Trinity University: Situated in San Antonio, this institution prides itself on its tight-knit community, with a 9:1 student-faculty ratio. They offer more than 49 majors and 61 minors, providing a wide scope for multidisciplinary studies.

4. Rice University: Although not strictly a liberal arts college, Rice, located in Houston, is a comprehensive research university that does offer strong programs in the liberal arts. The small class sizes and residential college system can also provide a liberal arts feel.

Each of these institutions has its own strengths and unique educational philosophies, so you may want to visit them virtually or in-person, if possible, and speak with current students or alumni to get a firsthand account of their experiences. Remember that what makes a college "the best" partially depends on what you're looking for in your college experience, such as size, location, specific programs, culture, and so on. Good luck with your search!
