Pursuing two bachelor degrees - is it doable?

I can't decide between two fields so I'm thinking about getting two bachelor's degrees. Has anyone done this? What's it like workload-wise? Is it even feasible or am I biting off more than I can chew?

It's possible to pursue two bachelor's degrees simultaneously, but yes, it can be a significant workload. You'll definitely need to be organized and manage your time well, especially since you might have to meet two sets of department requirements. However, you're certainly not the first student to consider this - others have done it successfully, so it's feasible if you're committed.

Also, you should know there's a difference between a double major and a dual degree. A double major means you're studying two fields within the same degree, like earning a BA in both English and Philosophy. A dual degree means you're earning two separate degrees, like a BA in English and a BS in Biology. The latter tends to be more demanding since you're working towards two separate diplomas, and it may require an extra year or two of study.

Before you decide, consider why you want to study these two subjects. Are they both necessary for your career goals, or do you simply have a strong interest in both? If the latter, you might consider majoring in one field and minoring or taking classes in the other.

Remember, the breadth of your education is more about the richness of your learning experience than the number of degrees you have. It's worth talking to academic advisors or professors in both departments to get their perspective, as they can provide a more detailed outlook on the feasibility and specifics of the workload. It's also helpful to discuss your options with current students who have pursued a double major or dual degree, as they can give you a firsthand account of their experiences.
