Applying ACT scores to military colleges

Super confused here. Will my ACT scores matter when applying to military colleges? Has anyone applied with their ACTs to military colleges like the Naval Academy or West Point? Was it a really critical part of your application?

While the admissions process varies by military academy, generally speaking, your ACT scores do matter when applying. They're part of a broader holistic review that evaluates not only your academic competencies, but also your physical fitness and demonstrated leadership potential.

For the United States Naval Academy (USNA) and United States Military Academy (West Point), high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, physical fitness assessment, medical examination, and work experience are all evaluated during the admissions process. Both academies stress that they're looking for well-rounded individuals, so while a high ACT score can certainly strengthen your application, it's not the only factor under consideration.

Keep in mind that these academies are highly selective, with admission rates hovering around 10%. While this suggests that a high ACT score can boost your chances, students are also evaluated on their leadership in extracurricular activities and a physical aptitude exam.

Overall, your ACT score is an important part of the admissions process, but it's just one of many factors military academies consider when evaluating applications. If you're truly interested in attending a military academy, work on showing exemplary physical fitness, academic excellence, and leadership involvement.
