Looking into Flagler College admissions

Hello, everyone! I've been doing some college research and Flagler College has caught my eye. Can any of you provide some insight into their admissions process? What kind of GPA and other criteria do they look for?

Flagler College is a private liberal arts college located in St. Augustine, Florida. The school has a somewhat selective admission process, accepting around 81% of applicants, but the process is holistic, considering various aspects of your overall application. In terms of GPA, the GPA minimum is a 2.0, while the average student has a 4.0 on a weighted scale. Regarding testing, as of 2024-25 cycle, Flagler College has decided to move to a test-optional model, meaning submissions of standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are not required. However, if your scores are strong, you can still opt to submit them to potentially strengthen your application.

Aside from high academic achievement, Flagler highly values individuals who exhibit strong leadership skills and community involvement. So, your extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or any leadership roles you've held could definitely boost your application. An important part of the application is your personal essay as well. It's a great opportunity for you to showcase your personality, values, potential contributions to the Flagler community and more.

Recommendation letters also play an important role in your application. They provide Flagler with firsthand accounts of your abilities and character from the people who know your academic or personal achievements best.

Finally, be sure to submit your application before the priority deadline, which is on February 1, to get the best consideration for financial aid and housing. Please note these are merely guidelines. Admission offices sometimes make exceptions based on the entire context of the student's high school experience, improvements over time, and other special circumstances. It's always best to reach out directly to Flagler’s admissions office for the most specific advice pertaining to their criteria and admission process. Good luck with your college journey!
