What's the out-of-state acceptance rate for University of Wisconsin?

Hey all! I'm from California and I've applied to UW. I’m curious as to what the out-of-state acceptance rate is. Does anyone know what it is or where I can find it?

Answer: The University of Wisconsin-Madison does not publicly provide a detailed breakdown of in-state vs out-of-state acceptance rates. However, they have stated that they aim to have at least 3,600 of the roughly 7,000 students in each freshman class be Wisconsin residents, which can provide some insight into in-state versus out-of-state spots.

Given the total size of the freshmen class, this inherently means a substantial portion of the accepted students hail from out of state. But without specifying numbers, we can't provide an exact out-of-state acceptance rate. Be assured that many other factors such as academic profile, essays, and extracurricular accomplishments play a vital role. Also, be aware that, being out-of-state does not necessarily disadvantage your application. Universities generally seek to create a diverse class profile, which includes geographic diversity. Good luck on your application process!
