What's the deal with the meal plan at Fashion Institute of Technology?

Hey peeps! I've been considering attending FIT and all, but I'm a bit stumped on their meal plan. If you're in the know, could you please describe what it's like?

Certainly, I'd be happy to outline the meal plan at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). FIT offers several meal plan options to cater to the diverse needs of its students. If you live on-campus, you can choose from the 'Unlimited Plans' such as the Unlimited Platinum, Gold, or Silver. These plans allow you unlimited access to the dining hall during its operating hours, plus an additional number of meal swipes depending on the plan level, to use at select retail locations. The difference between the Platinum, Gold, and Silver tiers mainly lies in the amount of included "Dining Dollars," which are included credits you can use at retail dining locations on campus, cafe-style establishments and grab-and-go options. Naturally, the higher the level, the more Dining Dollars you get.

Off-campus students, faculty, and staff have a number of 'Block Plans'. These offer a set number of meals per semester, rather than per week, providing more flexibility for those who may not eat on campus every day.

Additionally, keep in mind that while first-year students are generally required to purchase a meal plan, it becomes optional in subsequent years. However, many students continue to opt for a meal plan for the convenience and the opportunity it provides to socialize during meals.

Lastly, I also want to mention that FIT tends to take food diversity and dietary restrictions into account. So, if you're a vegetarian, vegan, or have certain food allergies, most likely, you will find options to accommodate your dietary needs. If your restrictions are very specific, it might be a good idea to reach out to FIT Dining Services directly to discuss accommodations.
