Johns Hopkins and AP credit?

Can anyone enlighten me about how AP credit is handled at Johns Hopkins? Which AP courses does Johns Hopkins typically give course credit for, and what scores are typically needed?

At Johns Hopkins University, there is a strong recognition for the hard work you've put into your AP courses, and the school does grant credit for AP scores of 4 or 5 in many subjects which can allow you to place out of certain courses or sequences. For example, students who received a score of 4 or 5 in AP Calculus BC can earn 8 credits and can use these credits to place out of certain introductory-level math courses. Similarly, getting a 5 on the AP Biology exam grants 8 credits and the prerequisite fulfillment for the introductory biology sequence.

In terms of humanities, students who score a 5 on the AP English Literature and Composition test or the AP English Language and Composition test can earn 3 credits but they do not exempt students from any writing requirements. For foreign languages, many language departments at Johns Hopkins require an additional placement test regardless of your AP score, but a 4 or 5 can still earn you some credits. For example, with a score of 5 on the AP French Language and Culture, you can earn up to 6 credits.

It's important to note that AP credit cannot be used to meet distribution requirements or to earn additional majors or minors. Also, some departments have specific policies regarding AP credit, and use of AP credits can sometimes be limited in certain programs or majors.

The above information could change and the best resource for the most current policies would be the Johns Hopkins University Undergraduate Catalog or directly contacting the Johns Hopkins admissions office.
