Boston University RISE Program Acceptance Rate?

Hi, folks! Has anyone here gone through BU's RISE program? What was your experience? Any idea about the acceptance rate or what they look for in prospective students? It seems pretty incredible but makes me nervous about how tough it might be to get admitted.

Hello there! It's great that you're showing interest in Boston University's RISE (Research in Science & Engineering) Program. It's indeed an incredible program that provides a comprehensive research experience for high school students.Though Boston University does not publicly disclose the precise acceptance rate of the RISE program, past participants state that it is typically highly competitive. The program is open to both local and international high school rising seniors, leading to a large applicant pool.

However, don't let that intimidate you! The admissions committee is mainly interested in your dedication to research and science. They look for curiosity, passion, commitment, and previous experience with scientific research, if it's available. But in the absence of prior specific research experience, good grades in rigorous science and math courses can be compelling, as can a clear interest in and focus on STEM.

An enthusiasm for the field, shown through engagement in other relevant activities or expressed in your application essay, can be a significant factor in your favor. So be sure to explain why you're interested in the RISE program and how you believe the experience would contribute to your future academic and career goals. Your recommendation letters could also play an instrumental role, especially if they're from science or math teachers who can attest to your abilities and ambition in those domains.

Remember, even if the acceptance rate is low, if you think the program aligns with your career goals and interests, it's worth applying! Good luck!
