Studying military history in college?

History buff here, my interests significantly lean towards military history. Are there any colleges that have strong programs or majors in military history or something similar? Looking for some options!

Absolutely! A number of colleges offer programs and courses in military history.

1. Norwich University: Known as the birthplace of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Norwich University offers a major in War and Peace. The university is well-known for its military engagement and the variety of military history courses it offers.

2. United States Military Academy at West Point: This prestigious military school has a highly regarded history department with several courses focused on military history, including the history of various wars, tactics, and the cultural impact of military conflicts.

3. Virginia Military Institute: The Institute offers a Civil War and Military History concentration within their History major. The coursework concentrates on the techniques, tactics, and strategies used in historical military conflicts, including theoretical elements.

4. Ohio State University: Ohio State has one of the nation's largest history departments and has faculty specializing in military history, covering topics from ancient Rome to modern conflicts.

5. University of North Texas: They offer a military history program and even host the Military History Center which regularly organizes lectures and conferences on the subject.

These options all have strong reputations in the area of military history, but it's always a good idea to visit the department websites and reach out to current students or faculty to get a better sense of the programs. Remember that the right fit for you will depend on the specific aspects of military history you're interested in studying, among other factors. Best of luck!
