What do students do over JHU's Spring Break?

I've been reading up on Johns Hopkins University, and as an out-of-state student, I'm wondering what students generally do over Spring Break. Are they encouraged to stay on campus or do most travel back home? Thanks for any input!

At Johns Hopkins University, the Spring Break experience can really vary depending on the individual student. Some students use this time to head home and spend time with their families, especially if their home is not too far away. This can be a good chance to recharge and take a break from their academic routine.

Others may decide not to travel home, particularly those who are from farther away or international students. While some facilities like the library and dining facilities do have adjusted hours, they still remain open, so students can stay comfortably on campus.

Apart from going home or staying on campus, some other popular options include participating in alternative break programs offered by Johns Hopkins, such as the Center for Social Concern's Alternative Breaks program. These programs offer students the opportunity to volunteer their time to engage with social issues in various communities.

Finally, some students may take advantage of the break to travel with friends, visit other colleges' friends, or just explore the Baltimore area further. The key is to choose what suits your individual preferences and needs best.
