How many U.S. Military Colleges are there?

From my initial research, it appears there are a number of military colleges in the U.S., but I can't find an exact number. Can anyone fill me in on how many there actually are?

Sure, there are five federal U.S. military colleges, each corresponding to a branch of the military. These are:

1. United States Military Academy (also known as West Point), affiliated with the Army

2. Naval Academy, affiliated with the Navy and Marine Corps

3. Air Force Academy, affiliated with the Air Force

4. Coast Guard Academy, affiliated with the Coast Guard

5. United States Merchant Marine Academy, which gives students the option to commission into any branch of the military.

In addition to these, there are six Senior Military Colleges (SMCs) that are civilian colleges with a military tradition. These schools are:

1. University of North Georgia

2. Norwich University

3. Virginia Military Institute

4. The Citadel

5. Texas A&M University

6. Virginia Tech

While both types of schools provide military education, there are differences between them. At the federal academies, military service is required after graduation, while at the SMCs, students have the option to pursue a military or civilian career.
