College Grants Available for Military?

Just curious, any college grants specifically for people in the military? Could do with some guidance here!

Absolutely, there are numerous grants and scholarships available specifically to military service members and even for their dependents!

The most comprehensive benefit would be the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which can cover full tuition and fees at public in-state schools and up to a certain amount at private or out-of-state schools. On top of that, eligible students receive a housing allowance and a stipend for books and supplies. The Yellow Ribbon Program can help cover additional costs if you want to attend a private university, graduate school, or an out-of-state school.

If you served in the military and are now disabled, you might be eligible for the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program. This gives disabled veterans counseling, training, education, and other services necessary to find employment. It can also help pay for college tuition, books, supplies, and housing.

Another option is the Tuition Assistance (TA) program, provided by each service branch. TA covers up to 100% of tuition expenses for semester hours costing up to a certain amount.

Military dependents also have various options available. For instance, the Military Dependents Scholarship Program provides educational assistance to dependents of members of the Armed Forces.

Finally, different organizations, foundations, and universities offer scholarships and grants tailored for military service members and their dependents. As these may vary, I'd recommend looking on the website of the institutions you're considering and doing some dedicated online searches to identify those that apply to your personal situation.

In all cases, be sure to also file the FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. It's important to explore all available financial resources to fully fund your education. Remember that these resources can provide significant help and are there as a token of gratitude for the service you've provided to your country. Good luck!
