Which colleges in New York are great for military students?

Hi all, some background about me, I'm a rising junior and I'm considering joining the military while pursuing a college degree. New York is where I'd like to go, but I'm uncertain about which colleges have solid support for military students there. Any insight would be appreciated!

New York boasts some strong options for military students, with schools that offer supportive programs to help your transition to civilian life and offer quality education simultaneously.

1. Excelsior College: It's renowned for accommodating the needs of military students and veterans, making it one of the top options. It offers generous credit transfers for military training, and there are several military tuition assistance programs as well.

2. Columbia University: Columbia's School of General Studies has a dedicated military and veterans affairs office and a specific initiative called "Milvets" which is the student association for military veterans. They are known for their robust support services and have been termed Military Friendly by Victory Media.

3. Syracuse University: It has the Institute for Veterans and Military Families. They offer plenty of resources including the Warrior-Scholar Project, which is a boot camp transition program for veterans going to college, tutoring services, and of course, a veterans' resource center.

4. St. Joseph's University in Long Island: This school also has a range of special services for military students, including the Office of Military and Veteran Services. They also host a Student Veterans of America chapter.

All these schools have Veterans Affairs (VA) offices to assist with benefits like the GI Bill, and they also offer counseling services for veterans. Don't forget to take an extensive look at the specific programs each of these schools provides to ensure they line up with your needs and ambitions. Good luck!
