Wake Forest vs Boston College: Opinions Needed

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about where to apply and could use some help. If anyone here is from Wake Forest or Boston College, could you please share about your experiences and what you like/dislike about these schools? It would really help me make my decision.

Right on the money with considering both Wake Forest and Boston College. They're both excellent schools. As you compare them, a useful lens could be academics, overall campus life, and location.

Academically, both offer a strong emphasis on liberal arts education. The class sizes are relatively similar, with both schools having a student to faculty ratio of approximately 11:1. Thus, you'll likely have an equally intimate learning environment at either school. However, BC has a larger number of undergrad programs (58) than Wake Forest (45), so if you're unsure about what you want to study or if you have a specific program in mind, it might be important to see if BC's breadth is of benefit to you.

For campus life, Wake Forest is known for its strong sense of school spirit (Go Deacs!), which is often unified around sporting events, such as ACC basketball. Greek life also plays a significant role in the social scene. Boston College also boasts strong school spirit with ACC sports, but Greek life is non-existent as the university doesn’t recognize it. There's a vibrant on-campus life, with many students involved in clubs and activities.

Location-wise, Wake Forest is in a charming area of Winston-Salem, NC, with a campus often hailed for its beauty. It's in a suburban setting but only a few minutes from downtown Winston-Salem, which provides some opportunities for exploration. Boston College, on the other hand, gives you access to a vibrant city full of history, culture, and countless opportunities for internships and jobs. If you prefer an urban environment and access to a bigger job market, consider Boston College.

Remember, there's no right answer. Ultimately, the better school is the one that fits your needs and aspirations best. If possible, visit both campuses, talk to current students, and get a feel for the environments. Good luck with your decision!
