Military-friendly colleges for class of 2024

Hey y'all, I am planning to serve after my high schooland then make use of the GI Bill for my college education. I've heard that some colleges are more supportive of veterans than others. Can anyone recommend some of these military-friendly colleges? I'm particularly interested in colleges that provide great resources and support for veterans, flexible scheduling, online courses, etc. Any help would be really appreciated!

Sure, I'd love to help point you in the direction of some colleges that are known for being particularly supportive of veterans, both academically and in terms of the overall college experience. It's great to see that you're considering factors like flexible scheduling and online course offerings, as these offer a good bit of flexibility, especially for non-traditional students.

Firstly, Arizona State University (ASU) ranks highly in terms of veteran support. ASU offers a very active veteran’s center, known as the Pat Tillman Veterans Center, that helps students access their benefits, adjust to college life, and excel academically. They also offer flexible online course options.

Additionally, Georgetown University stands out for their commitment to veterans. They offer a host of services through the Georgetown University Veterans Office, which helps veterans access their benefits, apply for scholarships, and connect with other veterans on campus.

The University of Southern California (USC) also offers an extensive array of resources for veteran students. Through their Office of Military and Veterans Programs, USC offers specialized academic advising, wellness services, career development assistance, and other comprehensive support services. USC also offers a large number of degree programs online, which can provide greater flexibility.

Finally, it's worth taking a look at Columbia University. Columbia has more student veterans than all other Ivy League schools combined, and they offer a unique program called the School of General Studies, which offers non-traditional students, including veterans, flexible options to pursue a variety of undergraduate majors. Still, it's important to evaluate each college on your own terms – based on your academic goals, potential major, and other factors that matter to you. You're already on the right track considering the kind of support and resources you want. I hope this gives you a starting point, and I wish you all the best in your transition from military service to higher education!
