Class Size of Princeton University for Future Applicants

I'm applying to Princeton University for the upcoming year, but I'm a little concerned about the size of the class. Ideally, I prefer smaller classes. Is there any credible info about how large the Princeton class size tends to be?

Princeton University is known for providing a tight-knit and intimate academic setting for its students. As one of the smaller Ivy League universities, it boasts a low student-to-faculty ratio. Typically, the freshman class size tends to be around 1,300 -1,400 students.

In terms of class sizes, about 73% of Princeton University's classes have fewer than 20 students. This enables more personalized attention from the professors and encourages active participation and discussion among students. However, it is also common for introductory courses and popular majors to have larger classes, often with several hundred students. These bigger classes usually break down into smaller discussion sections or labs led by graduate student instructors or the professors themselves.

So even in popular courses where the lecture class is larger, you'll likely experience smaller group discussions and interactions. In your sophomore year and beyond, you might also work more closely with faculty on independent projects or research, which can provide even more personalized academic experiences. Thus, while the total enrollment is slightly over 5,000 undergraduates, the intimate class sizes and hands-on learning are hallmarks of the Princeton experience.
