Chances of Getting off the UW Waitlist?

Hello everyone, I found out I was placed on the waitlist at the University of Washington. Feeling a bit bummed about it. Does anyone know what the chances are of getting off their waitlist? Also, any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated!

First off, congrats for making it onto the waitlist at the University of Washington. That's an achievement in and of itself. Now, as for your chances of getting off the waitlist, it's hard to pinpoint the exact odds as this changes each year based on the number of students who accept their offer of admission. But remember, you're on the waitlist because the admissions team sees potential in you.

One thing you can do is express your continued interest in UW. Since UW is one of those universities that does take demonstrated interest into consideration, you can send them an email to thank them for considering your application and confirm that you're still very interested in attending if offered a spot. And if you've had any notable accomplishments since you submitted your application, you could include those as well.

In the meantime, make sure to commit to another school by May 1 (or whatever the stated deadline is), so you're guaranteed a spot somewhere this fall. Consider all factors such as academic fit, social environment, cost, etc., when making this choice. If you end up getting off the waitlist at UW, you can then just de-commit from the other school.

Remember, being waitlisted isn't a rejection, so keep your spirits up and have faith in the application you put forward. All the best!
