Universities in Delaware - Pros and Cons

Hey, guys. Delaware might not be the most famous state for colleges, but I'm thinking about applying there. Does anyone have information on universities in Delaware like campus culture, academic quality, or diversity of the student body? Is there anyone currently studying there who could share some insights? Major considering: Business Administration.

Hello, Delaware does indeed have strong higher education programs, and while it may not be the first place that comes to mind, there are notable universities here.

The University of Delaware (UD) is probably the most recognized institution in the state, known for its solid business program. UD's Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics provides students with practical experiences and good job placement rates after graduation. The course structure is comprehensive, giving you a broad base of knowledge in different areas of business.

In terms of diversity, University of Delaware welcome students from more than 100 countries. So interacting with a diverse student body won't be a problem. However, keep in mind that the majority of the student population is still from Delaware.

As for campus culture, it's a mix of academic focus and social activities. The Blue Hens athletic teams create a lively sports culture, and there are also more than 300 student clubs and organizations you can join. Since UD is a large university, it gives you the opportunity to make a large school feel smaller by getting involved in these clubs and organizations.

Another prominent institution in Delaware is Delaware State University which is a historically black university (HBCU) offering a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. It's a smaller, tight-knit community compared to UD but holds strong academics itself. It might provide a different perspective from your general state schools if that's something you're considering.

Both universities provide a qualitative education in Business Administration. Your choice might just come down to the size and character of the university you prefer: the larger University of Delaware with its big sports culture or Delaware State University with a smaller, supportive community.Lastly, any university will have its pros and cons - it mainly depends on what you're looking for in your college experience. It would be beneficial to visit both these institutions if possible, to get a feel for the campus and interact with the students there. Good luck!
