Cornell University Summer Program: Worth it?

Hey guys, I heard a lot about these summer programs for high school students at different universities, and I've been particularly interested in the one at Cornell. Is it really worth it though? I mean, what academic and personal growth experiences can one gain from participating? And will it give me a leg up when applying to Cornell (or other universities) later?
