Football and Military? College options that offer both.

Hey there, I am a junior in high school and I love football. I also want to join the military after graduation. So, I'm trying to find schools that combine these passions. Are there military colleges known for their football teams?

Definitely! There are a number of universities that have a military focus and also have competitive football programs.

The service academies come to mind right away: United States Military Academy (West Point), United States Naval Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy. All of these schools offer NCAA Division I football programs and a post-graduation military commitment in their respective branches.

The Army team from West Point, also known as the 'Black Knights', participates in the NCAA Division-I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), which is the highest level of collegiate football. So does the Naval Academy's team, the 'Midshipmen', and the Air Force Academy's 'Falcons'.

It's also worth noting the United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. While these academies compete in Division III, they still offer the chance to engage in collegiate football while also preparing for a career in the military.

In addition, The Citadel, which is a Senior Military College, is known for its Division I FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) team. Virginia Military Institute and Norwich University are also Senior Military Colleges with football programs in Division I FCS and Division III, respectively.

Finally, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech have Corps of Cadets programs, and both schools also have competitive Division I FBS football teams.

It's worth noting that getting into these institutions is quite competitive, both in terms of academics and physical fitness, so you'll want to begin preparing as early as possible to increase your chances of admission.
