MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute information

Overheard someone talking about the MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute. It sounds very interesting, but what is it exactly? Has anyone been part of it or know more details?

The MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) is a rigorous, world-class STEM program for talented students who will be entering their senior year of high school. It's a four-week residential program that takes place at MIT and is partnered with several Technology Enabled Active Learning (TEAL) classes covering a wide range of exciting subjects such as autonomous cars, satellites, neuroscience, and others.

The program is completely free, and students are selected through a competitive application process. In addition, students have to complete a spring course (online) in order to qualify for the summer program. Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to work on projects, engage in hands-on activities, and gain exposure to advanced topics in technology and engineering fields.

The BWSI culminates in a final project where students demonstrate the skills they've learned throughout the program. This program is highly regarded and can be a significant boost for students interested in STEM. The experience can provide important talking points in college applications and interviews, especially for students aiming for top-tier technical colleges and universities.

Remember, though it's a prestigious program, it's also demanding and requires dedication and engagement. Likewise, the admission to this program is fairly competitive, so it's important to have a strong academic record and a passion for technology and engineering fields. It's a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of what life at MIT is like and to learn from experts in the field.

Hope this gives you a better understanding of the program!
