Hey everyone! I'm really into music and I'm considering Bowdoin as one of my top choices because I've heard good things about their liberal arts program. Do any of you guys know whether Bowdoin offers music lessons to students? I would really like to continue with my instrument. Thanks in advance!
Yes, Bowdoin does offer music lessons! They have a Music Performance program, which includes private instruction for a range of instruments. The one-on-one lessons are taught by professional musicians and are done in addition to your regular course load. It's also great to know that you don't necessarily have to be a Music major to take these lessons. Anyone at the college, regardless of their major, is allowed to participate. These private music lessons are offered for a nominal fee. Also, Bowdoin has a "Music Performance Fund", which provides financial assistance to eligible students who may need help with the cost of lessons. To avail this, you usually have to apply and demonstrate financial need.
In addition to private lessons, the music department offers a variety of ensembles, including Jazz Ensembles, Orchestra, Chamber Choirs, and more. So there are a lot of opportunities to immerse yourself in music at Bowdoin. Make sure to explore these fantastic offerings if you do decide to apply to, or attend, Bowdoin!
