Standout Fine Arts Colleges - Thoughts?

I'm a rising junior pursuing fine arts and I'm starting to get into the college application process. Can you guys recommend any fine arts colleges that have caught your eye, or that you have had particular good experiences at? I'm open to all suggestions!

Definitely! There are many fantastic fine arts colleges out there, so it all boils down to what you're specifically looking for in a college.

If you're looking for a school that's exclusively focused on the arts, consider Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), which is widely recognized as one of the leading fine arts schools. RISD offers a variety of fine arts majors, including illustration, painting, photography, and printmaking, among others. Another great choice is the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), which offers an interdisciplinary curriculum, allowing the flexibility for you to explore different areas of art.

If you're looking for a school within a larger university, you could consider the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU), which offers programs in realms such as drama, film, and interactive media arts.

On the west coast, the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is another great choice. It offers programs in areas like graphic design, ceramics, illustration, and painting - to name a few. And then there's the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture, known for its programs in painting and drawing, sculpture, and ceramics.

Not to forget about smaller liberal arts colleges, Williams College in Massachusetts has a robust art department and offers a few different undergrad art majors. Pomona College in California is another liberal arts college with a strong art department.

Each of these schools has a unique approach to fine arts education, so it's worth investigating each one to see if their programs, location, student body, and overall environment align with what you're looking for in a college. Good luck with your college search!
