Curious about the contents of the ACT Test

Hey guys, just wondering what exactly is on the ACT test? I'm trying to prepare and want to cover all the bases. Thanks in advance!

The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States, and it's divided into four sections, plus an optional writing portion. Each of the four sections is scored separately and then combined for a composite score.

1. English: This section contains 75 questions over a 45-minute period. It tests your understanding of standard English rules, including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills such as strategy, organization, and style.

2. Math: This section includes 60 questions over a 60-minute period. It covers pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. Make sure to have a calculator that adheres to ACT's calculator policy for this section.

3. Reading: This section includes 40 questions over a 35-minute period. It presents four passages, each followed by a set of questions. It measures your reading comprehension skills, specifically in the areas of detail, main ideas, inferences, vocabulary in context, and author's tone and style.

4. Science: This section has 40 questions over a 35-minute period. It doesn't test specific science facts but rather your ability to analyze and interpret scientific data presented in different formats, like graphs, charts, and research summaries.

5. Writing (optional): This final section is a 40-minute essay. You'll be given a prompt and three different perspectives on a contemporary issue. Your task is to evaluate and analyze the perspectives, state and develop your own perspective, and explain the relationship between your perspective and those given.

Keep in mind that the score for the optional Writing section is reported separately and does not factor into the composite score.

Good luck with your preparation!
