Experiences with NYU Tisch Summer Program?

Hey all, I've been looking at the NYU Tisch summer program and it seems really cool. Has anyone here been a part of it? Would love to hear about your experiences and if you think it helped your application. Thanks!

Hi there! While I haven't personally attended the NYU Tisch summer program, I've interacted with quite a few students who have. From what I understand, the program has a high quality curriculum with excellent faculty from Tisch School of the Arts, providing a solid exposure to the world of arts, culture, and more. Many students enjoyed the hands-on, immersive experience This program provides a unique chance to explore a specific artistic discipline in depth, whether that's acting, dance, dramatic writing, film production, or musical theater, just to name a few.

In terms of how this program might have boosted their college applications, it definitely seemed to shine a positive light. However, it's important to note that an impactful essay or a spike in a particular area is crucial too, as admissions officers prefer a "well-lopsided" applicant over a "well-rounded" one.

In terms of application, could you elaborate on your goals? Are you hoping to major in the arts at NYU or another school? Or is your interest more of a hobby or side passion? Your intended use of the experience could potentially change the advice on whether or not it’s worth it.

Remember, summer programs can be great opportunities for growth and exploration, but they're not the sole factor colleges consider when evaluating applicants. What matters most is how these experiences shape you and how effectively you communicate that on your application. The Tisch summer program can be beneficial for your application, especially for the arts-related majors, but it's just one piece of the puzzle.
