Seeking info on DC area colleges and universities

Hey everyone, I'm a rising junior right now and starting to research colleges. I'm really interested in going to school in or around Washington D.C. Does anyone have any insights or experience with universities in the DC area? Good programs, vibe, etc.?

Absolutely, Washington D.C. hosts a number of universities with diverse offerings and unique atmospheres. Here are a few to take a look at:

1. Georgetown University: Known for its strong programs in International Relations and Political Science due to its proximity to the government institutions. The campus has a traditional feel with a tight-knit community and lots of student involvement.

2. George Washington University: Located in Foggy Bottom, just a few blocks from the White House, this university is strong in International Affairs and Journalism, offering students the ability to intern throughout the city. The urban campus feels quite integrated into the city, giving it a bustling feel.

3. American University: This university is recognized for its Communications and Political Science programs. It has a suburban-like campus with lots of green spaces, providing a more relaxed atmosphere while still being within city limits.

4. Howard University: One of the top historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the country. It is known for its Social Sciences, Health Professions, and Journalism programs. The campus is tightly knit and fosters a strong sense of community.

5. Catholic University of America: Strong in Architecture and Nursing programs. It has a suburban-like campus and provides a tight-knit community atmosphere.

These colleges offer a range of experiences and academic strengths. Consider factors such as size, location, academic strengths, and campus atmosphere when narrowing down your choices. If you can't visit in person, take virtual tours or reach out to current students or alumni for their perspectives. They can provide you with valuable first-hand insight into the universities.
