Who should I ask for a letter of recommendation?
Answered

I already have one of my letters figured out: my CS teacher. Computer science is the major I am planning on going into so she was my top choice. For my other letter I have two options: My english teacher junior year (meh relationship) or my english teacher from sophomore year (great relationship). I'm torn as to who I should choose because recency and a good relationship are both important for a letter of rec. Any ideas?

I would say that you should go for the teacher who can better speak to who you are as a student and person can help you develop a stronger story and really highlight what you can bring to your school of choice in terms of character! I would say that a better relationship is more important than recency!

I think that you should ask your sophomore year English teacher for a LoR. The good relationship will make up for the fact that they had you earlier in your high school career. You can make up for the fact that you were in the teacher's class a while ago by updating them on your life through an in-person discussion and by handing them a comprehensive recommendation outline. These communications will help them write a LoR that describes who you are today. Hope this helps!
