How does a college look at SATs?
Answered

Hi! My AP Lang teacher told me that colleges look at the best scores that you have in each section of the exam. For example, if I took it twice, and I got a 760 on English and a 730 on the Math the first time and 740 English and 790 math the second time, colleges would see a score of 1550. I just wanted to know, is this true?

What your teacher was talking about is called superscoring. Based on your SAT scores, you're most likely applying to some T20s. Most of the T20s, if not all, use superscoring for SAT, which means they'll consider the highest section scores. Check up superscoring policies on Google.

Like @zayna.n.a said, you'll have to send scores of both attempts, but eventually, it'll be viewed as 1550 in many cases.

Hope this helps.

No, that's not true. You can send the complete test score from one day or another, but not the test score from one subject one day and another subject another day.
