Summer going into senior year

I'm going to be traveling and away from home this summer for over a month straight and only have a couple weeks back at home before senior year starts - how should I prepare for college apps/senior year since I most likely won't be able to do any part time jobs/programs?

Start essay writing! It is not good to wait until you only have a few weeks. Beginnign brainstorming early helps you choose the best topic, explore several options, and set it aside for even a week or 2 to let it sit. When you come back, your view is fresh and more critical. I made a post on essay writing you may appreciate here: collegevine.com/c/junior/49537/make-your-essay-stand-out

There are other "little steps" you can take summer before senoir year that will help your application be less rushed. Deciding who to request letters of rec from, final SAT/ACT attempts, etc. Working and planning ahead helps SO much! Start exploring the ins and outs of each application for the various colleges so you are familiar and confident.

Hope this helps. LMK if you have any questions!

Thanks! Is there anything you would recommend for sure being completed before senior year? Also, will not having participated in a summer program/job put me at a disadvantage?

All the things I suggested- essays, SAT/ACT, prepping the application, choosing people to write letters of rec, etc.

That depends on what schools you are applying to. Some competitive schools may notice but if you already have a great list of EC's then it may not matter at all.
