I just received a letter from College Board about the National Recognition Program, and I remember my friend asking me about it a couple weeks ago. It can't be that prestigious because my PSAT score sucked and I took my first AP tests in the last few weeks. I did some research and read about how it is to benefit under represented students, but I am definitely not one of those. Can I get like scholarships with it? Or is it more like receiving high honor roll at school where it doesn't mean much if you have it but its bad if you don't.
Hi! I got one of those too. If it says you qualify for the National Recognition Program and you haven't gotten scores for any AP exams, that means you were in the top 10% of PSAT scores in your school. It doesn't require a super competitive score on a national scale, just that you do better than most of your classmates. It's not a crazy award by any means, and I don't think you can get any scholarships, but it's still pretty good and you should definitely put it on your college apps.
Hi, I had a similar experience too. I’ve taken the SAT 4 times so far (5th time will be this June) and my most recent one was a 1360. I received a letter in the mail, and it allowed me to apply for a Rural and Small Town Recognition Award. As for the prestige, it’s just another small thing to put on your application, so it doesn’t matter much if you have it or not since it has little weight anyway.
