I have done the SAT twice while doing the IB program. I couldn't find any time to study for either of the tests, but my score improved from 1210 to 1300. I am wondering if it is worth submitting or not, or whether I should take the test again and hope this time I have time to study. For context in the rest of my application, I am an IB student with an average grade of 5.8/7 which I am expecting to improve, I do high level gymnastics 19 hours/week, I am chair of a volunteering service working with senior citizens, do two focus groups and I also do dance at my school. I am also considering applying to higher up universities where the 1300 SAT is way below average. What should I do?
That's a decent score considering. I would definitely submit the score. Are you taking the ACT as well? While it might not be as high as the average, the other parts of your resume will benefit. Make sure to work on your essays and letters of recommendation.
I'm not sure if I will take the ACT, I don't know a lot about it. Would it be beneficial?
If the schools you want to apply to are test-blind/optional, it may be better to leave it off. What you've already described is a very solid resume and can still get you into most universities. If you decide take the test again, go for a super score (cram the section you scored the lowest one so it can bring your overall up), it might place you in the 1400+ range.
if your SAT score is way below average for the schools you're applying to, you probably shouldn't. You should still have a good chance with your other stats and extracurriculars & a solid essay.
