I feel like I'm doomed at this point when it comes to college. I was fairly consistent with my GPA in my freshman and sophomore years, but this year second semester, I slumped so hard. I dislocated my shoulder from basketball during winter break and couldn't write or take notes for 2 months due to consistent pain in my arm and shoulder, and my teachers said I still had to write notes for the class, although I had a note from my orthopedic doctor excusing me from such activities. Because of notes being a huge part of my grade and not being able to write a substantial amount of my notes, my grades dropped low in 2 of my classes (AP US History and AP Environmental Science). I ended the year off with 2 Ds out of my 8 classes.
Hi, I'm also an uprising senior who had a couple of medical issues this year which prohibited me from even coming to school many days with note. I feel for you in the aspect of not seeming to catch up to your freshman and sophomore grades and them looking slacked for something you can't control. You seem like you have your stuff together for the most part and are wanting to improve. What I did during the year was talk to my counselor about it to see if there's any way that I could do the classes virtually I ended up with my dual enrollment classes as hybrid with proof of medical issues(if you still have them during senior year you could do this). During sophomore year I couldn't go to school for about 2 weeks and we were all doing notes based assignments in which my teacher didn't believe that I actually couldn't go to school for. After speaking to my teacher I went to the counselor and asked for a formal review of my situation and grades prior using my medical notices as proof of inability to complete the notes so what they did is used my final grade to cover those 2 weeks(I'm not sure if your school could do that). Or from what I know many schools if you get a 3-5 will change your grade to reflect the score you got during your AP exam. 3 being a C 4 being B and 5 being A. You could ask your counselors if this is possible and ask for a review of your ability in those classes until now and explain your medical situation to see if they could account for that as you were physically unable to participate with medical notice and viable reason to see if they could open the grade book to fix this issue. If not well you tried, and you could continue to try by pushing your GPA up during senior year. I hope this either helped or provide you with some sort of insight, have a great day and hope you figure it out!
Hey, you always have time to catch up and clearly you're a good student so this is just a little bump in the road. GPA drop in your case can easily be explained and as long as you put this behind you and keep working hard you're sure to get out of this on the other side alright.
