Hi, after I did a college visit in Florida, I started to get worried that colleges will not accept me. All because nothing about me doesn't seem appealing to colleges. In my 9th grade year, my grades were not that great with a 87%, and then in my 10th grade year my grades have fallen to a 85%, and then back to a 87%. I feel so regretful that I haven't really studied hard earlier. I don't play any high school level sports either. I was hoping that for Senior year that I could study hard and raise these grades to get my overall gpa from 87% up to something higher. I am planning on participating on many clubs during my senior year if that helps. Hopefully someone can answer my question.
Don't worry! An 87 is not a bad grade and many colleges still see this as above average! During your senior year, just remember to lock in on the little things because they boost your grade so much in the end! I would also suggest joining extracurricular clubs at your school so your application stands out. And if you are up to it, maybe try starting a club your school doesn't have yet! I know how scary college admission can be but you got this and are doing great! Keep it up!
Thanks for the tip! I'm thinking of joining TSA (Technical Student Association) and Asian culture club. I feel motivated to study even harder for next year anything to get into a good school!
Of course! Wishing you the best of luck and remember to take care of yourself inside of this process! Mental health is just as important as your grades! :)
Senior year is the most relevant to universities, regardless of your past grades. Of course, universities look at your whole record, but if you improve your grades, extracurriculars, and test scores in your senior year, it proves to colleges that you are ready for higher education. 85% and 87% isn't that bad for state colleges and many private universities. Just try harder in your classes and commit to 3-5 extracurriculars that you truly care about that create some sort of impact and you will be absolutely fine. I would also recommend applying in the spring to show your growth during senior year. Play to your strengths when applying for university, submit good AP scores, good ACT/SAT scores, and write an essay if that is one of your strengths. You got this!
Unless you're applying for rather prestigious schools. I don't think an ~85 is that bad of a grade. You have two years to add to your resume, so do partake in as many extracurriculars as you can. Do some volunteering as well, as I am finding colleges like an abundance of community service from potential applicants. How many colleges have you applied to?
I mean an 85-87 average isn't that bad!! Unless you want to go to a top 50 school you should be fine!! Probs join some clubs and stuff while you can though, and get in honors/AP classes if u can/think u could handle them
