Art Class Halloween Project

There's this class I'm not too comfortable with, 2d art. they want us to do a Halloween themed project. The thing is, I'm a Christian and I am not a fan of Halloween cause I feel it has deeper connotations than a lot of people see it to have. At first I was excited about the project cause well its art and i like it and It didn't click until recently that this is against what I stand for, but I felt I should just continue because my school requires 1 art class for graduation and this is the one I wanted. But I'm 2 weeks in and have already submitted a draft for the project, which is gonna be graded. I actually had to start the project and I'm disappointed that I've started it already. But 2weeks in , Monday will be week 3 . I dunno if i can switch classes. its an elective obviously but should i even switch? I am confused actually...any advice would really help.

My question is, do you feel uncomfortable with the class in general or the assignment? If it is the assignment, the quick albeit awkward fix would be to email your teacher and explain that while you enjoy this class and have been trying as hard as you can on this project, it conflicts with your religion. I doubt you need to deeply explain why it conflicts, but to strengthen your reasoning (especially with how late you are reaching out) it may prove beneficial. You can try and request instead of a Halloween-themed project, you could do a fall-themed project. If the entire class makes you feel uncomfortable, I'd suggest talking to both your counselor and teacher to either remedy this or switch to another class. YES YOU CAN SWITCH!!!

Where you are coming from is a completely respectable place. I would say just talk to the teacher and if it’s easier to use email then also cc your counselor. As previously mentioned you could ask for a different assignment. Most of the time teachers will be fairly accommodating. As for switching I don’t think that you should switch courses. As said you need an art class anyways to graduate and sometimes God will use situations that make us uncomfortable to shape us into the person that we need to become.

i would say just talk to the teacher, ask if theres an allterinate assigment you can do because you were to scared to talk to them before and it goes aginst your beliefs

Hey! I totally understand where you're coming from! I don't think switching out would be your best move, and I would simply talk to the teacher about maybe having an alt. assignment because you're not comfortable with it. I think if you were to tell the teacher that it's a religious thing, they would understand and give you something else.

Hope this helps! 🙃
