So recently, my teachers told me about a potential Yale college visit happening and recommended I attend. I hadn't really been considering Yale but I was definitely curious.
There were already a few issues with the visit already. It was going to be happening at another school in the district right in the middle of the school day. I went to Student Services and they arranged transportation and checked me out of my afternoon classes for that day. They also told me it was THURSDAY and gave me a flyer with that date on it.
On the day of the visit, I went back to Student Services to double check everything: the bus time, my attendance, where I would be going etc.
I arrived at the other school and told them that I was here for the Yale College Visit. The staff at the front desk were confused and redirected me to their college counselor. She was nice and also seemed confused. Apparently Yale had been there last week on WEDNESDAY.
The date online was right but the one the school had given me was wrong. I still got the leftovers (a brochure and bookmark) from the visit and the counselor gave me the email for the Yale admissions officer and recommended that I send an email to her. I had to wait an hour before a bus could take me back to school.
I told Student Services about what had happened and they were really panicked and apologetic. I did try and reassure them that I could try again next year and that I had at least gotten SOMETHING from it.
Sooo....yeah. I can't lie; I'm pretty bummed out. Do you guys have any thoughts about the whole situation? Can you guys give me any tips on how to structure the email for the Yale admissions officer? Thx!!!!
