I'm a current junior at my high school and I have a 3.4 uw GPA and 3.9 weighted gpa. All three years so far I have taken mostly honors classes, except for CP math class, and this year I am taking AP Lang. I am also taking anatomy right now, and plan to take four or five AP classes senior year.
Throughout high school, I have participated in my school's marching band, and now in my junior year I am a section leader in which I lead twenty people and am responsible for them. Marching band is something I am interested in participating in for college too. I'm looking into schools in the south, because most of them have really amazing, large bands.
My dream is to go into medicine. I am a babysitter, and in the next month will become both CPR and AED certified, and I have been trained to administer the heimlich maneuver. Right now I'm looking at either majoring in nursing, and becoming a Nurse Practitioner, or majoring in pre-health and furthering my education to become a physician's assistant.
Am I behind? What else can I do to attempt to get into colleges for medicine?
No, I don't think so. We're pretty similar actually. Like you, I'm a section leader in marching band, and I've also taken mostly honors and AP classes. If you're looking to strengthen your resume, I would try getting the highest score you can on the SAT and getting a job, internship, or volunteer work (bonus if it is medicine related). That will look really good on your application. Try volunteering at a hospital or joining a medical research project. Best of luck!
