Hey! I was wonering if it makes sense to scrape by academically, but be an absolute monster with extracurriculars. That's what I'm doing right now, and I'm being asked by tons of colleges to join them. I mean, I have a 2.2 GPA right now. It's that bad. But still, I get asked to march for, be in orchestras for, be in bands for, and swim for colleges. I'm getting offered scholarships and my dream college even reached out to ME. I've been offered to study the major I want, at at least a dozen colleges in the past month. So, I'm asking if it's a good idea, or if everything will fall through the cracks and I'm gonna be left wishing I had gotten some better letters. Thanks!
I'm a varsity CIF 1st place swim athlete (I swim fly!), and I'm the lead snare in my school's marching band. I think marching band is a sport.. I'm missing a lot of assignments and I fail most of my tests in the classes I don't care about. If it's a class that didn't live up to my expectations, it is soul crushing and I honestly can hardly bring myself to do my work.
Well, you should know that pro athletics are not studying for ap calculus or anything like that, since they don't need it. If you've been great on marching band and swimming, than it's not the worst choice to give up studying because you won't need them! (It's like you're getting helicopter license to drive a car). I cheer you and don't get stressed with overdue assignments and bad grades. It's so natural for great athletics. I cheer you!
you can absolutely get you grade up. You just have to do your assignments, be diligent, have the right mindset.

D..Damm. You got 2.2 GPA and got offer from public ivy? Respect you so much. What sports do you play? Were you missing a lot of assignments or did you just do bad on the tests?
