Hi guys, I currently go to an international school in the philippines, but I am a US citizen. I am currently taking the IBDP, with 3 HLS (bio, english, and psych), along with 3 SLs. I have a few extracurriculars such as varsity volleyball, but not much other than that. My situation is tricky since my family has lived off a fixed income from my late grandpa for the past 10 years and still is. I dont really know what else I can do to improve my extra curriculars, and just anything college admission related.
I would think your situation is quite an important factor in your profile. Many extracurriculars aren't free and require some sort of money to participate in, so it makes since that you wouldn't be in many. I'd just say, as someone who's similarly limited by their situation, take the opportunities you have. There are plenty of free ways to get involved in your community or even just your school through volunteering or a service project. Considering your situation, your profile isn't nearly as "weak" as you think it might be. As long as you try to chase your passions, colleges will see that.
Hey! Don't worry I know how hard it is when looking for extracurriculars, im not sure how it works over there but if there are clubs at school you can join societies, or like community events you can maybe can involved in, maybe you can even do something with a couple of your friends and organize giving out food, clothes, or etc. Also if that is maybe a little challenging at first you could simply start a gofundme for a cause you support and donate the money and could even evolve that into a nonprofit. You can also run an instagram account about something you enjoy or care about, just some simple ideas to boost your extracurriculars
