gt cs is really competitive but it's my dream college. i just don't know where i am in terms of whether i can get in and i was wondering if you guys think i have a chance and if i don't, what more i can do to get better?
academics: i have a 4.0 unweighted gpa (have had all As all of high school) and a 4.7 weighted gpa. i have taken 9 APs so far (4s and 5s on all of them) and by then end of senior year, i'll end with 12 APs, 13 honors, 6 dual enrollment classes (two of them being at gt).
sat: my sat is kind of bad. i have a 1510, 770 on math, 740 on reading. do you think i should take the sat again or maybe try the act?
extracurriculars: i am my school's varsity fencing captain. i have been on varsity for all three years so far, medaled regionally multiple times, even medaling state once, and i am captain of 30+ members.
i also started my own steel city codes chapter--the first one in georgia--at my local middle school and teach over 40 middle schoolers coding in java.
i have a job as a math tutor at mathnasium where i instruct from kindergarten-calculus.
i had an internship at a company called primetals where i helped in developing a chatbot, took courses on python and networks, shadowed employees.
i have an internship with a gt mechanical engineering student for his startup, where i code front end and backend.
class rank: 11/570
also i am in-state so i've lived in georgia my whole life!
thank you!
bro ur likely gonna get in if u apply. Your SAT is not bad at all. U could benefit from retaking for a higher math score but a 770 math wont knock u out considering ur grades, rank, APs (which i believe calc bc is amongst), ur ECs are really good and u are in state. just keep it up...dont slow down at all, ull stand a huge chance.
I agree with @Omale31. Given that you're in-state, I'd say you have a great chance. Obviously its not a sure thing, but I'd say that the odds are in your favor. Even your "kinda bad" SAT is way above the Georgia Tech average of 1450ish.
