Hi everyone!
I'm a high school sophomore with a GPA of 3.9–4.0. I'm currently taking 4 Honors classes, 2 AP classes, and 2 college courses. I'm interested in pursuing a major in Legal Research and Advanced Professional Studies (Post-LL.B./J.D.), with a focus on family law.
I participate in powerlifting, indoor soccer, and cheerleading as extracurricular activities. I'm also planning to do some volunteer work and job shadowing at our local lawyer's office to gain more experience in the field.
I would love advice from juniors about their experiences with college prep, what extracurriculars you think stand out to colleges, and any tips you have on early graduation and college applications.
Thanks so much!
I would say leadership positions and service clubs are the most important things ivy league or esteemed colleges look for. Also, passion projects and making an overall impact in your community. If you aren't planning on ivy league, honors societies and sports, FFCLA or FFA are great based on your interests.
As for early graduation, I would take online classes if your school, district, or state has a funded option. Also take as many CE or AP classes senior year as you can.
Overall. just do what you are passionate about and talk to your councilor about networking to get a good start in your dream career.
a doing really strong academically tbh. focus more on building a clear “law” story now like shadowing, debate, or mock trial. leadership matters more than joining everything. track ur activities early. early graduation only if u got a solid plan. also dont burn out it’s real
