Should I take regular or AP physics next year?

I'm a current junior and I found out that the science class I planned to take next year is being canceled. The only other science classes that I'm considering are regular physics and AP physics 1. My friends suggested I take AP physics, although last time I learned physics was in middle school. I plan to go to UC San Diego for geology/oceanography, so I feel it's important that I have a stem-heavy courseload. So far I've taken both AP computer sciences, APES, mechatronics engineering, regular chemistry, regular biology, and honors math, and have gotten mostly A's. I have a lot of friends who have already taken regular physics, so they can probably help me prepare for AP physics.
