Thoughts on my application strength?

Hi everyone! I'm a rising junior so I have a year to prepare, but I've been keeping track of my stats for my college applications. Can you give your thoughts and advice on improving them? Thanks!

My gpa is 3.8 uw/4.7 w. I plan to apply for a journalism or communications major. Stats:

- Enrolled in a competitive STEM magnet program

- Assistant Literary Editor of school lit mag (10th grade. Same position next year, and will be Editor-in-Chief in 12th grade.)

- Founder and Editor-in-Chief of county-wide lit mag (Started it yesterday, but I'll work on advertising it and preparing for submissions this summer)

- Substack blog (Started in 10th grade)

- Possibly self-publish a novel. If not done by 12th grade, then writing a novel (10th grade, ongoing)

- Editor of magnet annual quasi-yearbook magazine (Projected for 11th grade. Was a writer in 9th and 10th grade. Will probably be EIC senior year.)

- Writer for a student-run county newspaper (Will start in 11th grade. Probably continue into 12th.)

- Writer for school newspaper (Projected - 12th grade)

- Research internship (Summer before 12th grade) bc it is a program requirement for the senior research project

AP Exam Scores:

APUSH - 5

AP Gov - projected 5

AP CSA - projected 4 or 5

Calc BC - 11th grade

World History - 11th grade

Statistics - 11th grade

Lang - 11th grade

Lit - 12th grade

My most recent practice SAT exam score was 1460, so I expect a final score of 1480-1540.

I will take a bunch of bio and physics electives, as well as a journalism course next year and creative writing in 12th grade.

That's all the significant information :)

Wow! I definitely do think you can get into a nice school that offers a journalism program. So far you already have experience with writing in leading roles, which can demonstrate that you really are interested in pursuing a degree in communications. I would say you're a strong candidate considering your gpa both weighted and unweighted. If you want to improve maybe try a creative writing project if possible! It could show your versatility in being able to write in different styles. Otherwise your resume looks great. Keep up the great work!
