I have been super set on going to school in North Carolina, specifically Duke. I'm out-of-state but I have family that lives there including my father, I don't want to get into my whole life story but I will say I'm currently under guardianship and my dad still has his right. The reason that this is important is because my mother is deceased and I was wondering if anyone knows the laws in North Carolina to see if there a way I could apply for in-state tuition given the little snippet of my situation. ALSO, I would like to know what other juniors, or even seniors have done their junior year that helped them better prepare for applications, and scholarships. Its probably helpful to note that I have a 4.0 GPA, and do extracurriculars one being wrestling that I do very well in (state placer) THANKS!!!
Hey Alli! I don't know if one would consider me a reputable source (LOL), but I do have some advice for you. I, myself, am a rising Junior and can see how you can leverage your interests into something spectacular. Wrestling is very impressive (coming from someone who can not fight at all), and I think many people will be able to tell that you take it seriously, given that you have won an award for it. However, is there something that you are particularly interested in outside of wrestling? Maybe it's business, Healthcare, or finance? I think telling a story that ties wrestling into the major you're interested in could be really compelling. It would make your application stand out and give admissions officers a memorable way to understand your interests and experiences. Let me know!
Honestly totally agreed, I really enjoy art. I wanna go to the healthcare field. I actually wanna get my masters in nursing. So I could probably wrap that into an essay! Thank you for your help!
