(high school) junior year as a future journalism majorAnswered
So, I want to pursue journalism. Schools that offer it as a major are limited in my state, and I go to a school that is dual-enrollment. Because of that, it causes my credits to only transfer in-state. I'm working on creating a school newspaper and I am going to be editor-in-chief of it. Additionally, I am doing SGA for the second year in a row. My graduating class is not very big, like 52 students total, and my class rank is 10/52. My weighted GPA is 4.676, and I'm worried that I'll have a hard time making my application competitive due to being in the Arts pathway (I'll have my Associates in Arts when I graduate). Any suggestions?

Honestly, your application already sounds pretty strong. A 4.676 weighted GPA, top 10 in your class, SGA, and starting a school newspaper as editor-in-chief all give you plenty to talk about.
You should not worry too much about the Arts pathway. Having an associate degree when you graduate also shows you took advantage of the opportunities your school offers and for journalism, focus on building a portfolio. Save your best articles, interviews, opinion pieces, and any work you do for the newspaper & if you have a chance to enter writing contests or get published outside your school, those would be worth pursuing too.
You should also look beyond schools in your state if possible, even if your dual-enrollment credits don't transfer everywhere, the journalism experience itself still matters. Your story is more interesting than a transcript full of classes with a certain label.
