Paying for College

how can i afford college
Answered

hello - i am a current senior in high school, graduating this upcoming may in 2023 :) I think I know where i'm going to college (regis university in Denver, CO) but i'm not 100% sure yet. they gave me around $24k annually, however I will still have to pay around $36,600 annually for travel & food and more. FAFSFA says i'm not eligible for money, and as a result I don't quality for many scholarships bc they want proof of financial need. However, I know for a fact that i cannot afford college without going into insane debt. I am working but there's only so much I can make. I have a good GPA from this semester (UW 3.1 W 3.5) but a poor cumulative (2.8). I also have a 26 ACT and over 45 hours at my local food pantry, and 2 rec letters that I can use if necessary. I'm majoring in Nursing. I'm also white and non-religious. any ideas of what I can do? I am insanely stressed about affording my education. tips? thank you!

I recommend applying to other schools as well as private scholarships. Another college may give you a better aid package, especially if it is a state school. In any case, there are many private scholarships out there that are not based on financial need. The best way to win scholarships is to apply to as many small and niche ones as possible, since they are the least competitive.

If all else fails, you can become a nurse for less money by studying at community college. Once you earn your associate's degree, you can complete a bachelor's program with two more years of study - you could do it while you are working too. Hope this helps!
