How to find a suitable job?
Answered

I am currently a Sophomore looking to apply for a job. Unfortunately, I do not know where to start. Whenever I look on possible common job websites (such as Indeed), most of the jobs available require the applicant to be at least 18 years of age or older. Are there any resources such as websites that I could use to find jobs near me? If not, what are recommendations for what I should do in terms of finding a job near me?

You can usually apply filters like age/experience on Indeed, maybe there's not many part-time jobs for minors in your area? The demand for underage, unexperienced employees has significantly gone down since the summers of 2020 and 2021, when I had a very easy time finding a job and switching jobs. If you haven't tried them already, other sites are Glassdoor and Snagajob, and you can apply to some places via the company's actual website (especially if it's a chain like Chick-fil-a). When you do apply to a job, make sure your resume is no longer than 1 page and only lists relevant experience to your position.

Indeed is really not helpful for 99% of people (imo). What I did is I went on google maps and searched for the industry I was interested in, in my case "restaurants near me", and went through the process with companies which used a different system than Indeed

I'm currently a sophomore, and I got my job this past summer. I actually didn't use any websites, since I was too young for most places. Instead, I thought about local places that I've been to or that I know are around, and then I looked them up. I ended up applying for and getting the job at a local farmer's market. If you have one in your area, they typically have a lower age requirement and are interesting places to work.

I am also a Sophomore and I have heard that you can use social media platforms like LinkIn.com and put out that your looking for a starter job, from then on employers should reach out. There are also apps where you can select no experience needed.
