I am going into my junior year of High School, and it has become abundantly clear to me that my parents have absolutely nothing to contribute to my college, no college fund, no nothing.
I have no idea what scholarships to apply for or what to do, everthing is just creeping up on me to fast and i have no idea what to do, people are telling me to start applying to colleges already but why apply if i know that there is no way on earth that i can pay for myself to go to college. People are asking what scholarships I'm applying for, and all I can do is give them a blank look because I have absolutely no idea. This is all overwhelming, and I am looking for a little guidance on what to do, so I thought I would turn here for some advice. If anyone has anything, that would be great.
Hi Hope!
I'm so sorry about your parents; that sounds really disappointing.
So I have a few ideas. First off, apply for every single scholarship you are eligible for. Now, if you aren't strong on essay writing, that's ok. there are many scholarships out there that don't require an essay that give you big bucks, as in, possibly enough for 2 years free.
The other idea I have for you is make a list. Make a list of everything that you will need to do to get ready for college. If you have a written list of everything that needs done, then you can see what the small tasks are, and get those out of the way first.
Lastly, look for colleges that give good financial aid. There are so many that will provide 100% of their students with financial aid, which really helps. Also, if you demonstrate a need for financial aid, then they will be even more likely to help you.
I hope this helps. :)

Hi Hope! I would join some websites like ScholarshipOwl and Bold.Org. Especially bold.org because it will ask you a series of questions and pick out scholarships for you based on your answers. Good luck girl!!
