Paying for College

How do I pay for college when I have zero support?
Answered

I'm a sophomore in highschool, and I'm extremely worried about college. How will I pay for it when I can expect no support from my family? I have a unweighted GPA of 4.13 and a weighted GPA of a little more than 4.32. I love love love to write, I play flag football, and I'm taking 3 APs and one honors. Last year I took two honors. I have no idea what to do to help toward college loans. I am not a trust fund kid and I will not receive support from my family, and even though I live in the USA I will be an international student in university. I have a few requests from colleges on here like Uni of New Mexico and Uni of Idaho, and they are offering me scholarships but not full rides which is what I really need. I want to go to UC Berkeley, that is my absolute dream school, but with each passing day, I feel like that will remain just a dream. Is there anyway I can improve my chances for full rides or just improve overall?

Hello, I’ve been researching this so I got plenty answers. Apply for the bold.org website and download the app on your junior year , you can apply for up to 40,000 dollar scholarships. Go to an instate college , and don’t forget to apply for financial aid . Of course you’ll have to pay aid back after you graduate in most cases. But as a sophomore you can join clubs , most clubs will have a scholarship option , same for sports like band , cheer , and etc they’ll pay for you to go to their school long as you’re in a certain club or sport . FCCLA is a wonderful club to join for this aspect . Also if your parents or guardians make under a certain amount of money , you’ll be able to apply for about 4-11k for your freshman year of college after that the aid goes up of how much you can apply for . Make sure to attempt to get a job and save up for a car (CarMax is wonderful to buy from) if you work let’s say 4pm-11pm 9-13hr you can afford a down payment on a car , and should finish your car note within your junior year . After you finish the car stuff save up for college , and only buy things that are necessary (clothes make up and games can wait til you’re fully supported )
