Paying for College

For College (out of state) do I have to pay for public transport or do they just cover it?
Answered

Hello, I'm a Gurnee high school Freshman, and I've been planning to attend Cal Arts after College of Lake County, and I'm just wondering about transport to Cal Arts and other out of state Colleges. Do I have to pay for public transport or do they just cover it? Because Cal Arts is in California and I'm in Gurnee IL and just to make sure so I don't completely get stumped for College and be more high alert.

Hi! That’s a great question to think about early. Colleges usually do not cover transportation costs for students, especially when you’re traveling from one state to another. If you go from Gurnee, IL to California for CalArts, you’ll need to plan and pay for your own travel, like flights, buses, trains, or gas if you drive. Once you’re at the college, some schools do provide discounted public transportation passes for local buses or trains, but that’s different from long-distance travel.

It’s smart to look into scholarships, financial aid, or even budgeting now so you’re prepared for those expenses. You can also check CalArts’ website or contact their student services to see what local transport options they offer.
