Paying for College

How do I pay for college?
Answered

I am a sophomore in high school. I am thinking of going to a private university, which is significantly more expensive than a public university, even out-of-state. I don't want to go into student loan debt, and I am applying for as many scholarships as I can. However, the closer college gets the more I feel worried about it. My parents will help me, and I should be able to get a good scholarship from the university for my GPA, but I still want to know what to do, as I want to do 8 years of university and I know that will be expensive.

Most if not all private universities provide merit scholarships to all students they accept. Typically the better your GPA, standardized test scores even for universities that do not require for acceptance want to review to determine merit aid and extracurricular activities support what each student is offered. Also, most universities financial aid office lists scholarships specific to each student’s interests, attributes, major, family history.

Do you have an idea of what you’d be majoring in? If so you can apply to that career related scholarships! Though they’re competitive, I’m sure you’ll find a scholarship that fits your interests! Good Luck.

I would recommend using Bold.org. They have thousands of scholarships, and it also allows you to customize filters to help you find scholarships that best match you. There are no essay scholarships you can apply to as well. doing certain tasks on the website gives you bold points, which increase your chances of getting picked as a winner for a scholarship AND give you free money. I currently have just over 1k points and it transforms to about $9!!
